What is Riverview PTSA Council?
Riverview PTSA Council is a district-level PTSA. We support, mentor, and collaborate with the six local PTSAs representing all the public schools in the Riverview School District (RSD). RSD includes Carnation, Duvall, and parts of Redmond, Woodinville and unincorporated King County, WA.
We also serve as a vital liaison between the Riverview School District and our local PTSA communities, helping ensure communication, collaboration, and support across our schools.
Yes, we love cute treats, fun events, and bringing people together—but we are so much more than that. We advocate for our students at both the state and local levels, volunteer our time, and work alongside families, educators, and community members to create meaningful, positive change.

Our Mission & Goals
The Riverview PTSA Council Mission:
The Riverview PTSA Council exists to support, mentor, educate, and empower Local PTSAs—helping them thrive as leaders in our community. We also serve as a liaison between Local PTSAs and the Riverview School District administration, fostering strong partnerships that amplify parent voices and strengthen collaboration across the district.
We will accomplish this by:
- Actively Engaging the Local PTSAs.
- Promoting membership continuity and growth.
- Encouraging Local PTSAs to participate in all WSPTA advocacy efforts.
Riverview PTSA Council Goals:
- Engage the Local PTSAs
- Achieve participation by every Local PTSA at a minimum of one Riverview PTSA Council sponsored event, meeting, or training.
- Host quarterly Council-led events that encourage collaboration and idea-sharing among Local PTSAs
- Facilitate roundtable discussions to surface challenges and celebrate successes
- Create a resource hub with toolkits, templates, and best practices for running effective PTSA programs
- Promote Membership Continuity and Growth
- Work directly with every Local PTSA to provide membership education and strategic planning.
- Maintain or increase from previous year's membership.
- Motivate and Encourage Local PTSAs participation in all WSPTA advocacy efforts.
- Increase representation of Local PTSA participation at WSPTA Legislative Assembly, WSPTA Focus Day and WSPTA issue submittal.
- Encourage all Local PTSAs to participate or host at least one Family and Community Engagement (FACE) event.
- Champion Local PTSA and Parent Voices at the District Level
- Actively gather and elevate parent input to inform district-level decisions and initiatives.
- Foster Parent Connections and Community Support
- Partner with local organization to host meaningful events
- Invite guest speakers and facilitate relevant discussions to address community needs.
- Build a Collaborative Relationship with District Administration
- Schedule regular meetings between Council leadership and district administrators to share updates and align priorities
- Invite district representatives to participate in Council events and trainings to foster mutual understanding.
Riverview PTSA Council Standing Rules
Standing Rules are the specific conditions or rules a local PTA or Council chooses to impose upon itself within the scope of the Washington State PTA Uniform Bylaws. All PTAs must have their own standing rules, and these rules must be approved yearly by their membership.

Awards!
At the WSPTA Convention in May, Riverview PTSA Council was awarded with the Silver Advocacy Award of Excellence!
At the June 23, 2020 Riverview School Board Meeting, Council was presented with the 2020 Community Service Award. This award recognizes partner groups who make a significant difference for students, and we are proud to support our Riverview students, staff and families, with a special focus on community mental health in the 2019-2020 year.
On May 17, 2019, Riverview Superintendent Dr. Anthony Smith and the Washington Association of School Administrators (WASA Metro Region 110) honored Riverview PTSA Council with a Community Leadership Award. We are proud to partner with Riverview School District in our goal of the betterment of families for the benefit of children.
